CIA chief held talks in Moscow: Kremlin reveals details

Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin has already been briefed on the results of CIA Director John Ratcliffe’s visit to Moscow. However, he did not meet with Putin personally.

This was reported by the Russian Telegram channel “Vy slushali” with reference to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

According to Peskov, during the visit, Ratcliffe met with representatives of Russian intelligence services. He did not specify with whom the negotiations took place.

“I can tell you that there were no meetings with the Russian president. That’s all I can say on this matter,” Peskov said.

He added that Putin is being briefed on the details of Russian intelligence services’ contacts with the CIA director.

The Kremlin called such contacts a “positive phenomenon.” According to Peskov, the Russian and US intelligence services maintain dialogue even during difficult periods in relations between the countries.

At the same time, he said it was too early to say whether these contacts would help improve relations between Moscow and Washington, which, he said, were in a “deep crisis.”

The Kremlin did not disclose what exactly Ratcliffe discussed with representatives of the Russian intelligence services.

Earlier it was reported that CIA Director John Ratcliffe arrived in Moscow on Tuesday, August 25, where he is scheduled to hold talks with Russian officials. Before his trip, the United States warned Ukraine about the delegation’s visit and asked it to temporarily refrain from strikes.

As a reminder, on the morning of August 25, an American military transport aircraft Boeing C-17 Globemaster III of the US Air Force landed at Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport.
