Clear-cutting to be stopped in the Carpathians: the forestry industry will switch to selective forestry from 2027

From 2027, continuous main logging will be stopped in the Carpathians and will switch to selective “reformation logging”.
This was announced by the head of the State Agency for Forest Resources, Viktor Smal, in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
” This is a real revolution for the industry. We have spent three years preparing personnel and training staff in modern methods that are as close as possible to natural processes,” said Smal.
According to him, the new practice will increase the resilience of forest ecosystems to climate change and pests, and will also contribute to the continuous natural regeneration of forest stands.
The State Forestry Agency predicts that when using natural silviculture, the growth of wood reserves can increase three times faster.
The State Agency of Forest Resources of Ukraine is the central executive body responsible for the management, protection, reproduction and rational use of forests. It oversees over 70 state enterprises, including the State Enterprise “Forests of Ukraine”, as well as scientific and environmental institutions and organizations engaged in the inventory of forest resources.
Recall, a traveler recently recorded an unusual phenomenon in the Carpathians – the “Broken Ghost” . According to Romaniv, this was the first observation of such an amazing natural phenomenon in his life.
It is also worth knowing that the weather in the Carpathians has significantly deteriorated .
