“Closing Illegal Activities in the Western Hemisphere”: US Seizes Another Oil Tanker

US military personnel announced the seizure of another oil tanker linked to Venezuela.

This was reported by the US Southern Command.

As noted, the motor tanker Sophia did not have state ownership. The vessel is under sanctions control.

It became known that the tanker Sophia was operating in international waters – in the Caribbean Sea. The command’s message emphasizes that it was carrying out illegal activities.

“The U.S. Coast Guard is escorting the M/T Sophia to the United States for final disposal. Through Operation Southern Spear, the U.S. Department of Defense remains steadfast in its mission to disrupt illicit activities in the Western Hemisphere,” the statement said.

Previously, the United States of America conducted an operation to seize the Venezuelan-bound oil tanker Mariner , which was sailing under the Russian flag.
