The Voroshilovsky Interdistrict Court in occupied Donetsk has sentenced pro-Kremlin propagandist Tetyana Montyan to 1.5 years in a general regime colony. She was found guilty of incitement to “extremism” and banned from administering websites for 2 years.
This is reported by Russian media.
The state prosecution requested 5 years in a penal colony for Montyan.
The case against the propagandist was opened in September 2025. The reason was the phrase “to wet the security guards without any pity,” which she uttered during a stream in December 2022.
Montyan and her supporters argued during the court debate that by the word “security” she meant bloggers who silence problems on the front, and “wetting” meant blocking bots in the comments. She also denied the accusation of misappropriating funds collected for the Russian military.
Montyan was previously criticized by Russian propagandists Vladimir Solovyov and Boris Yakemenko, who said she embezzled money collected for the Russian military.
In 2023, the Security Service of Ukraine reported Montyan on suspicion under 4 articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. She was charged with actions aimed at seizing state power, encroaching on the territorial integrity of Ukraine, collaborationist activities, and justifying Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine.
According to the investigation, Montyan left for Russia in 2021 and visited the temporarily occupied territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions to prepare propaganda materials.
In 2024, the Qualification and Disciplinary Commission of the Bar of Zhytomyr Region deprived Montyan of the right to practice law upon a complaint from the Prosecutor General’s Office.
