The court has released former Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Crimea Mykola Fedoryan, who was serving a sentence for high treason. He was exchanged as a prisoner of war.
This is stated in the court ruling.
“The petition of the prosecutor of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office for release from serving a sentence in connection with the decision to transfer a person for exchange as a prisoner of war is granted,” the resolution states.
It is known that Fedoryan wrote an application for exchange, but at the same time appealed the verdict for treason. In June 2025, the Supreme Court ordered a retrial of the appeal.
On August 5, 2025, the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War approved the transfer of a Russian collaborator for exchange.
Fedoryan worked for the Ministry of Internal Affairs for about 30 years, and retired at the end of 2011. Since 2012, he has worked for Chornomornaftogaz.
After the occupation, he remained in Crimea and received a Russian passport. He began working for the Russian Chernomorneftegaz. It is known that he provided transportation for FSB officers who conducted illegal searches of Ukrainian citizens, detained them, and transported them to places of detention. In November 2020, he was detained at the Kalanchak checkpoint.
The “I Want to Go to My Own” project reported that collaborator Fedoryan has already been exchanged and is in the Russian Federation.
It is worth noting that on Thursday, August 14, an exchange took place. 84 military and civilian personnel were returned to Ukraine . Some of them had been held by the Russians since 2014.
