Colonel Serhiy Zakharevich, commander of the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after General-Coroner Mark Bezruchko, was killed in the war.
This was reported by General Sergey Sobko.
“Today, a soldier, son, husband, father of three children, my friend Sergey Zakharevich, died. You said that fate is treacherous, it betrayed you often, gave you many trials, but you never broke, moved forward no matter what,” General Sobko’s message says.
He added that American General Mattis said that there are two traits he values most in leaders: “aggressiveness” and “initiative.” These two traits accurately describe Zakharevich.
“We have no brighter example of an officer with these two qualities,” Sobko added.
The circumstances of the brigade commander’s death are not disclosed.
Serhiy Zakharevich is a graduate of the Odessa Institute of the Ground Forces. After graduating, he was given command of a platoon in the 30th Separate Mechanized Brigade. Since 2010, he has been the commander of the reconnaissance company of the 1st Tank Brigade.
In 2015, he was awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, 3rd degree, and in July 2022, he was awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, 2nd degree.
In February 2025, he was appointed commander of the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade.
