The Japanese government has denied information spread by the media about the rejection of the European Union’s proposal to finance Ukraine with the help of Russian frozen assets.
This was reported by Reuters.
“This is completely untrue,” Vice Minister of Finance for International Affairs Atsushi Mimura told reporters.
According to him, Japan acted in the interests of Ukraine, because at some point it itself may face a similar situation in East Asia.
It was previouslyreported that Japan refused to join the European Union initiative , which involves using frozen Russian assets to financially support Ukraine.
Recall that the United Kingdom may unblock Russian frozen assets worth 8 billion pounds sterling (over 10.5 billion dollars) in order to transfer them to Ukraine.
As reported, the US tried to convince European Union countries not to use frozen Russian assets for a reparations loan to Ukraine.
