Chinese-American singer Wang Lihom performed with several Unitree G1 humanoid robots during a concert in Chengdu. The performance went viral on the Internet and attracted the attention of fans and media around the world.

During the “Best Place Tour” concert, the robots appeared on stage during the performance of the song “Open Fire.” They were dressed in baggy pants and sparkly shirts and performed synchronized dance moves alongside human dancers.
The show culminated in the robots’ frontal somersaults, known as “Webster somersaults,” performed in near-perfect unison.
The goal of the concert was to demonstrate how artificial intelligence and robotics can enhance artistic expression without replacing human performers.
“This performance was a rare example of a Robotic Dancer in concert, combining cutting-edge technology with powerful live music. As the opening beats of “Open Fire” filled the hall, robotic dancers appeared, moving in perfect synchronization with Van Leehom’s choreography,” the singer’s website says.
A video of the speech went viral on X and Instagram. Tesla CEO Elon Musk responded with one word: “Impressive.” Fans actively shared the clips on Weibo, Instagram, and X, comparing the Chinese robotics to American projects like Tesla’s Optimus.
Netizens left various comments: “The dancers were just replaced with AI. Look at these moves!” wrote one user.
“Millennials are probably the luckiest generation to ever give birth. Every sci-fi book we’ve read comes to life in some form or another,” added another.
Some were less impressed: “The charm and lively energy of human faces easily lift your spirits and energize you in a way that these cold, faceless humanoid robots never could,” wrote a fourth user.
