Ukraine’s power grid continues to be disrupted by Russian attacks on energy infrastructure and severe weather. As of the morning of June 16, consumers remain without electricity in several regions.
This was reported by NPC Ukrenergo.
It is noted that due to enemy attacks on energy facilities, there are power outages in Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhia regions.
“Where safety conditions currently allow, emergency restoration work is already being carried out. Power engineers are doing everything possible to restore power to all subscribers as soon as possible,” the company noted.
At the same time, electricity consumption in Ukraine is trending downward. According to energy experts, on June 16, as of 09:30, the figure was 3.3% lower than at the same time the previous day.
The reason for this is said to be favorable weather, which allows household solar power plants to operate more actively, as well as reduced use of air conditioners due to lower air temperatures.
“Given the weather conditions, it is advisable to postpone active energy consumption today to the period of the most productive operation of industrial solar power plants – from 10:00 to 17:00,” Ukrenergo reported.
In addition to the consequences of the shelling, energy workers are also eliminating damage caused by bad weather. Due to heavy rain and gusts of wind, three settlements in the Sumy region were left without electricity.
“Repair crews of the regional power company are already working on restoring damaged power lines,” the company added.
Ukrenergo emphasizes that the situation in the power system may change, so Ukrainians are urged to monitor the messages of their distribution system operators.
