Conversations with Shefir and Umerov: “UP” published new “Mindich tapes”

“Ukrainian Truth” has published a new part of audio recordings that, according to journalists, were made by NABU as part of the “Midas” case. These are conversations recorded in the summer of 2025 in the apartment of businessman Timur Mindich, who is called a defendant in the energy corruption case.
According to the UP, the recordings include Mindich himself, former presidential advisor Serhiy Shefir, then-Minister of Defense and now Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov, as well as other individuals whose names are partially encrypted.
In the first conversation, Mindich and Shefir discuss former Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Chernyshov, who is suspected of abuse and bribery. They also talk about finding money to post bail for him.
In the recording, Mindich speaks about possible corruption schemes related to apartments, and Shefir mentions individual deputies and the distribution of income, which, according to him, should be partially transferred “to the team.”
In another conversation, Mindich is talking to a woman named Natalia. They discuss construction work, infrastructure, and projects at the Dynasty cooperative in Kozyn, where, according to preliminary information from investigators, the estates of various officials are located.
There is also an opinion that some of the objects should be temporarily “conserved” due to the risks of attention from journalists and investigators.
Another part of the recordings concerns a conversation between Mindich and Rustem Umerov. They discuss possible personnel changes in the government — in particular, the option of appointing Umerov as ambassador to the US and moving Denys Shmyhal to the position of defense minister.
The conversation also mentions the Fire Point company, which produces long-range drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the UP, Mindich expressed dissatisfaction with the company’s financing.
Journalists note that Fire Point has become one of the key suppliers of drones for the Ukrainian army. At the same time, investigations claim that Mindich himself may be among the company’s possible beneficiaries, although he denies this.
NABU and SAPO have not yet commented on the released recordings. Umerov, Shefir, and Mindich have not publicly provided detailed explanations about the content of the audio.
As a reminder, the Appellate Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court considered the complaint of the defense of businessman Timur Mindich and did not cancel the suspicion that was previously announced to him.
By the way, only 19% of Ukrainians surveyed believe that President Volodymyr Zelensky was unaware of corruption in his entourage and was not involved in the “Mindich scheme.”
