“Could have sunk the liner”: Greece makes claims to Ukraine over drone

Greece said it expects an explanation and apology from Ukraine over a naval drone found near the island of Lefkada in the Ionian Sea. Athens believes the drone could have posed a danger to civilian vessels.

Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias said that the found drone is allegedly Ukrainian.

“She owes us a very big apology. And in addition to the apology, she must provide an absolute guarantee that something like this will not happen again,” Dendias said.

According to him, the Greek side has allegedly established the type of drone and its origin. The minister also stated that the drone could have caused a serious disaster if it had collided with a passenger ship.

“If a cruise ship collided with a drone, how many deaths would we mourn?” he added.

Meanwhile, the Greek Foreign Ministry reported that further diplomatic steps may be taken after receiving official conclusions from the military. The parties are currently holding bilateral talks.
