Council committee proposes to direct military levy to military salaries

The relevant committee of the Verkhovna Rada supported the amendments to the Budget Code relating to the military levy and recommended that the parliament adopt the draft law immediately in its entirety.

This was announced by the head of the budget committee, Roksolana Pidlasa.

According to her, the document provides for a change in the principle of distributing funds: from January 1, 2027, the military levy is planned to be directed not to the general, but to a special fund of the state budget. This approach will be in effect until the end of the third year after the war.

These are significant sums — over 200 billion hryvnias annually. These funds are expected to be used exclusively to provide financial support for the military.

“This step has more political significance, because right now most of the budget revenues are already directed to defense,” Pidlasa explained.

At the same time, she noted that after the active phase of the war ends, such cost fixation will become practically necessary. This is due to the fact that the share of civilian spending will increase, and the volume of international aid may decrease.

Consideration of the bill in the session hall of parliament is expected in the near future.

Let us remind you that the military levy funds should be used to index the monetary support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine , Petro Poroshenko said this at a briefing.
