North Korea will send six thousand of its citizens to Russia, who will supposedly “restore” the Kursk region.

This was stated on Tuesday, June 17, by the Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Sergei Shoigu, following talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

“Kim Jong-un has decided to send one thousand sappers to Russia to demine Russian territory, as well as five thousand military construction workers to restore destroyed infrastructure facilities,” the statement said.

In addition, Shoigu said that Russia and North Korea have decided to “perpetuate the feat” of the soldiers of the Korean People’s Army who fought against Ukraine. He specified that this involves the opening of memorials in both countries in honor of the killed North Koreans.

Recall that in 2024, Russia received 9 million artillery shells and ammunition from North Korea, as well as 11,000 military personnel to support the war against Ukraine.

As reported, while the international community is tightening sanctions against Russia, the Kremlin is finding new ways to circumvent isolation – through an alliance with one of the most totalitarian regimes in the world. North Korea is not only supplying Russia with missiles and soldiers for the war against Ukraine, but also sending massive numbers of labor migrants to Russia . This process is taking place despite UN sanctions and against the backdrop of a massive labor shortage in Russia.

It should be noted that while the international community is calling for peace, North Korea is actively profiting from Russia’s war against Ukraine. According to a recent report by the South Korean Institute for Defense Analysis (KIDA), North Korea’s participation in this aggression has already brought it over $20 billion in economic benefits.

By the way, the US State Department noted thatthe Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and other third countries are contributing to the prolongation of Russia’s war against Ukraine and bear responsibility for this.
