Hacker group Anonymous has announced an attack on the resources of the Russian occupation judicial system in Crimea. According to preliminary data, over 240 GB of data — more than 323 thousand files — may have been stolen as a result of the hack.

This was reported by the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, citing a statement from hackers.

After the attack, Anonymous called on Russia to stop the war against Ukraine and withdraw its troops. The hackers also emphasized that Crimea is Ukrainian territory.

Screenshots published by the group show resources that may have been hacked. Among them is likely the portal “Justices of the Republic of Crimea”, which is used in the Russian occupation justice system on the peninsula.

The Crimean Center draws attention to the fact that recently the occupation administration has been engaged in the so-called “re-election” of peace “judges”. The procedures were carried out through the Russian-controlled “State Council of the Republic of Crimea”. In particular, it concerned representatives of the “judicial system” of the Black Sea region, Yalta and other settlements.

According to the center, corrupt deals and unofficial payments may have taken place during these processes. Some representatives of the occupation judiciary allegedly reported increasing amounts demanded from them for assistance in the “re-election”.

The KRC suggests that the materials obtained by Anonymous may be of interest not only as evidence of a cyberattack. If the authenticity of the data is confirmed, they may shed light on the inner workings of the occupation judicial bodies created by Russia in Crimea and contain relevant official documentation.

At the same time, there is currently no independent confirmation of the full amount of information claimed by the hackers.

In particular, Anonymous is an international decentralized hacktivist movement without a single leadership, fixed membership, or centralized structure. It emerged in 2003 on the 4chan platform. The movement’s members carry out various digital actions, including against censorship, corruption, and state control of the Internet. The Guy Fawkes mask became the symbol of Anonymous.

It was previously reported that the Ukrainian hacker group Ukrainian Militant announced the receipt of a significant amount of technical documentation on the development and modernization of Russian ships, vessels, and submarines.
