Фото: Freepic.com
Ukrainians traditionally change their clocks twice a year – in spring and autumn. However, for several years now , efforts have been made in Ukraine to abandon this practice.
UNIAN reports this .
Changing time twice a year was introduced after World War I to save electricity. Over time, many countries abandoned this system because it was found to be inefficient and could negatively affect people ‘s health .
Will the clocks be changed in 2026 ?
In 2024 , the Verkhovna Rada passed a law to abolish seasonal clock changes . It was planned that Ukraine would remain on winter time forever.
However, the document has not yet entered into force because it has not been signed by the president.
Therefore, Ukrainians continue to move their clocks forward , and this practice will likely continue in 2026 if the legal situation does not change .
When do clocks go back in 2026 ?
The transition to daylight saving time traditionally takes place on the last Sunday in March.
In 2026 , the clocks will be changed on March 29 at 3:00 a.m. The hands are moved forward one hour – after 2:59 , 4:00 immediately follows .
This means that Ukrainians will sleep an hour less, but daylight will last longer in the evening .
