Deadline for Putin: Will the situation on the front change in 50 days?

The 50 days that US President Donald Trump gave the Kremlin for a peaceful settlement will not significantly affect the course of the war, because the key goal of such a step is to personally humiliate Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin and prepare new sanctions.
This opinion was expressed on the air of “Pryamoy” by Myroslav Gai, a major in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, head of the “Mir i Ko” charitable foundation.
“Putin publicly despised Trump. He humiliated him in front of everyone, the whole world. Let me remind you of that phone conversation when Trump offered Putin the opportunity to do joint business, develop the Arctic together, and return to the G7. But Putin openly humiliated him, and then began the peak of shelling Ukraine. Trump was offended. And now he is actually telling Putin: “Okay, you want to capture Ukraine in 60 days? Let’s see. If you didn’t capture it in 11 years, then in 60 days?” I think that the offended Trump wants to demonstrate humiliation to Putin on the battlefield in Ukraine,” Guy believes.
At the same time, from a practical point of view, according to him, the 50 days that Trump has given Putin for a peaceful settlement are not that many. Moreover, this time could be used to adopt anti-Russian sanctions.
“I wonder why everyone writes that these 50 days are Trump’s attempt to hand Ukraine over to Putin. This is not much. If they want to impose sanctions against Russia that will be effective, then, first of all, the corresponding bill must be passed. And this means that it must go through committees, amendments, a vote, then a second vote, be signed by the president and enter into force. I will tell you that for a good bill, a year is sometimes not enough, and not 50 days,” the public figure explains.
In addition, Guy adds, these 50 days may be used to coordinate appropriate sanctions with European partners.
“Any sanctions actions need to be discussed with partners in Europe, because they can bring, even if small, even temporary, risks and harm to partner countries… Accordingly, we need to hold consultations with them as well. That is, in principle, 50 days is an adequate figure. Although I think that Trump called this figure more for beautiful political rhetoric. The first 100 days of the president, so 50 days to give Putin something to think about,” noted Myroslav Gai.
Recall, the day before, a landmark meeting between US President Donald Trump and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte took place at the White House. During the briefing , Trump announced the transfer of up to 17 Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine and a large amount of other military assistance, which will be partially financed by European allies. The president also threatened Russia with 100% tariffs if a peace agreement on Ukraine is not reached within 50 days.
Meanwhile, the United States is preparing to transfer weapons to NATO allies worth about $10 billion , with the subsequent delivery of this equipment to Ukraine. The agreement, signed by US President Donald Trump and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, provides for the transfer of the most modern weapons, including missiles, air defense systems and artillery ammunition.
Later, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he had held two important international talks — with US President Donald Trump and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. The talks focused on strengthening Ukraine’s defense, the supply of Patriot systems, new weapons, and steps toward a just peace.
