Death of a mobilized person in Kyiv: details from police and doctors

In the capital, 43-year-old Kyiv resident Roman Sopin tragically died after being taken to the territorial recruitment center the day before.

According to her, on October 22, the mobilized man was taken to the CCC, and the very next day his parents received a call from the hospital — the man was diagnosed with a severe head injury. Doctors performed an emergency operation with trepanation of the skull, but they were unable to save the patient’s life — he died without regaining consciousness.

The police noted that according to the preliminary version, the tragedy occurred in the premises of the distribution point in the Podilskyi district: the man allegedly fell to the floor and received fatal injuries. Other mobilized personnel who were nearby tried to provide him with first aid.

Law enforcement officers opened criminal proceedings under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional murder).

According to the preliminary conclusion of the forensic medical examination, death occurred as a result of closed head injury. No signs of other bodily injuries were found. The final results will be established after histological examinations.

As reported, the State Bureau of Investigation reported suspicions to two law enforcement officers in Kyiv who beat a man near the building of the Holosiivskyi District Territorial Procurement Center on October 17. The victim received numerous bruises on the head and body.
