Death toll in Kyiv after rocket strike rises to 26, including three children
The number of victims of the Russian strike on Kyiv, which occurred on the night of July 31, has increased to 26 people. Among the dead are three children.
This was reported by the press service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
According to Tkachenko, as of 6:30 a.m. on August 1, rescuers are continuing search operations. The report notes that the bodies of 10 deceased people, including a two-year-old child, were found under the rubble in the Svyatoshynskyi district.
In total, 159 people were injured in the attack, 16 of them children. Most of the victims received medical assistance on the spot or were hospitalized. Psychologists from the State Emergency Service also provided support to 112 people.
180 rescuers and 60 pieces of equipment were involved in the elimination of the consequences of the impact. More than 2,000 tons of debris have already been removed from under the rubble. Work on the site is ongoing.
Russia struck the capital with a combined type of weapons – in particular, cruise missile launches were recorded. The most extensive damage was sustained by a residential building in the Svyatoshynskyi district – the entrance to a high-rise building was destroyed there.
It was previously reported that the death toll from the Russian combined attack on Kyiv has risen to 12. 135 people were injured.
As a reminder, on the night of Thursday, July 31, Russian forces carried out a combined attack on Kyiv, using missiles and drones. The strike resulted in significant destruction in several areas of the capital, with fatalities and dozens of injuries.
It later became known that in Kyiv, the rubble after the night shelling continues to be cleared. Rescuers found the body of a deceased person in the destroyed entrance of a high-rise building in the Svyatoshynskyi district.
It should be noted that First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov said that the Russians are already modernizing their “shaheeds” so that they can more effectively avoid Ukrainian interceptor drones. He noted that the Russian military is already preparing to massively use jet drones, as well as implementing technologies that allow them to bypass Ukrainian interceptor drones.
In addition, a specialist in the field of electronic warfare and radio-electronic intelligence Sergey “Flash” Beskrestnov noted that Ukrainians began to hear a new eerie sound in the night sky — we are talking about jet versions of Shahed kamikaze drones, which Russia began to use in recent days. This was the enemy’s response to the successes of Ukrainian anti-aircraft drones. So far, the attacks are not massive, but the emergence of a new type of drone may change the nature of threats from the air in the coming months.
