Deepening cooperation and creating new capacities: Ukraine and Canada agreed on joint production of defense products

Ukraine and Canada have agreed on joint production of defense products to deepen bilateral cooperation.

This was announced by Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal.

The agreement was concluded on August 24, Independence Day. The document was signed by the heads of defense agencies in the presence of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.

According to Shmyhal, the purpose of the agreement is to deepen defense-industrial cooperation, expand and create new production facilities in Ukraine and Canada, and increase the stability and continuity of supplies of defense products.

The Head of the Ministry of Defense explained that the relevant agreements will simplify the establishment of Ukrainian companies in Canada, promote the exchange of technologies, and provide the Armed Forces of Ukraine with modern weapons and military equipment in the long term.

“This will significantly strengthen our resilience and ability to counter the Russian threat. We thank Canada for its solidarity and unwavering support for Ukraine in our fight for freedom and independence,” Shmyhal concluded.

Recall, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced new military aid , which will arrive in Ukraine next month.
