Deepening cooperation with the US and pressure on Russia: Ukrainian delegation leaves for Washington

The Ukrainian delegation traveled to Washington to participate in the annual IMF and World Bank Financial Week, which begins on October 13.

This was announced by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States, Olga Stefanishyna.

The Ukrainian delegation included a number of officials – Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov, Minister of Finance Serhiy Marchenko, Chairman of the National Bank Andriy Pyshny, Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Oleksiy Sobolev, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Serhiy Kyslytsia.

According to Stefanishyna, during the visit, officials will work to deepen cooperation between Ukraine and the United States in the security sector and increase pressure on Russia.

She separately emphasized that the Ukrainian delegation will have a busy program of meetings, including:

  • continuing dialogue with American partners on the development of agreements between the presidents of Ukraine and the United States;
  • energy sustainability of Ukraine;
  • participation in the IMF financial week;
  • annual ministerial-level roundtable in support of Ukraine at the World Bank;
  • bilateral meetings with the US administration and Congress;
  • meeting with business.

Previously, the International Monetary Fund believed that Ukraine would need $10–20 billion more in financing by 2027 than the government currently anticipates.
