Estonia has said that Russian special services were behind the arson attack on the building of the defense company Milrem Robotics in Tallinn. The country’s Foreign Ministry will summon the country’s charge d’affaires for Russia over the incident.
This was stated by Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsakhna, his words are reported by Ukrinform.
According to the minister, the materials collected by the Estonian Security Police allow the authorities to claim that the fire on the night of August 14-15 was a deliberate sabotage organized on the orders of Russian special services.
“Russia continues its campaign of sabotage against Europe to intimidate it and force it to reduce support for Ukraine and ease pressure on Russia itself,” Tsakhna said.
He added that Estonian security services have already prevented several similar sabotages, and the suspects in the Milrem Robotics arson have been detained.
The Estonian prosecutor’s office previously reported that no one was injured in the fire. The investigation had initially been investigating the possibility of sabotage.
Three Latvian citizens were detained in August on suspicion of involvement in the arson and later extradited to Estonia.
Milrem Robotics develops robotic and autonomous systems for military and security missions. The company, in particular, supplied Ukraine with THeMIS unmanned ground platforms.
Tsakhna emphasized that Estonia, together with its allies, will continue to increase sanctions pressure on Russia and support Ukraine.
