Defense Forces conduct offensive operations at the front: there is success in Zaporizhia and Sumy regions

The Ukrainian Defense Forces are conducting counteroffensive operations in certain areas and have already achieved some success in the Zaporizhia region.

This was announced by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky.

He noted that the situation in the areas of combat operations remains difficult, but the Russian occupiers do not fully possess the strategic initiative.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine are taking active defensive measures, and even in some places are conducting offensive operations. In particular, Ukrainian soldiers continue to liberate the Sumy region, operate in the Pokrovsky district of the Donetsk region, and have achieved certain successes in the Zaporizhia region.

According to Syrsky, the price of the enemy’s insignificant advances is high losses: in September alone, almost 29 thousand servicemen. In addition, 70 tanks, 65 armored combat vehicles, more than 1,050 artillery systems, 6 multiple launch rocket systems and other equipment were destroyed or damaged. And since the beginning of the year, Ukrainian defenders have captured 2,060 Russian servicemen.

“The Kremlin’s plans to seize important areas of the territory and settlements are not being implemented, and therefore are constantly being revised and postponed,” the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated.

At the same time, Ukrainian soldiers stopped the Russian spring-summer offensive campaign and continue to destroy the enemy’s further plans, taking asymmetric measures to neutralize the superiority in personnel and weapons.

Syrsky also emphasized the effectiveness of deep strikes on the Russian Federation. Thus, within the framework of Deep Strike, military targets, logistics, and the enemy’s energy complex are destroyed.

Since the beginning of 2025, Ukraine has attacked 45 facilities of Russia’s fuel and energy and military-industrial complex.

“As a result, the total production of fuels and lubricants in the Russian Federation has decreased by almost 25%. Every day, the aggressor country loses more than 46 million US dollars from the decrease in oil product exports. Defeating the enemy’s rear resources significantly complicates his ability to conduct active combat operations,” the commander-in-chief summarized.

Earlier, Syrsky said that Ukrainian units continue to destroy the enemy in the Donetsk region , in particular, over the past day, the Defense Forces cleared 3.4 sq. km of territory in the Pokrovske direction.

As a reminder, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated thatthe Defense Forces, thanks to the Dobropil counter-offensive operation, disrupted the Russian summer campaign .

As is known, during the Dobropil counter-offensive operation, the Russian army suffered significant losses – thousands of eliminated occupiers.

By the way, the military forces of the Russian Federation received an order to storm the positions of the Defense Forces in the Pokrovsky direction at any cost.
