Defense Forces drones attacked Ryazan: oil refinery caught fire

On the night of September 5, drones of the Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Forces carried out an attack on an industrial facility in the Russian city of Ryazan. According to preliminary data, the target of the strike was a local oil refinery.

Information about the successful operation was confirmed by Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council.

In a brief comment, he noted: “Ryazan Refinery. Excellent work by the Unmanned Systems Forces.”

Russian sources, including the Astra Telegram channel, reported a fire at the plant after a drone attack. Videos and photos of flames and smoke appeared on social media.

On the morning of September 5, the head of the Ryazan region, Pavel Malkov, said that Russian air defense forces had allegedly intercepted eight enemy UAVs. According to him, the wreckage of one of the drones fell on an industrial facility, where a fire broke out. Authorities said that work to eliminate the consequences is currently underway.

As a reminder, on the night of August 28, 2025 , the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out a large-scale attack on key facilities of Russia’s military-economic potential. The Afipsky and Kuibyshevsky oil refineries, as well as ammunition depots and logistics centers of the aggressor, were hit.

As reported, on the night of September 1 , a large-scale drone attack took place in the Krasnodar Territory of Russia . The strikes set off an electrical substation and, presumably, an oil refinery.
