Defense Forces eliminate Russian commander who previously served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine

On September 19, the Ukrainian Defense Forces used an FPV drone in the Kherson region to eliminate the commander of the 8th artillery regiment of the Russian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Isaev. He previously served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but in 2014 he defected to Russia.

According to published data, Isaev commanded the 8th Artillery Regiment of the Russian Armed Forces, military unit 87714. The unit operated in the Primorsky tactical direction as part of the Russian grouping of troops “Dnepr”.
Isaev was a native of Mykolaiv and had been serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine since 1992.
In 2014, he held the position of Chief of Staff – First Deputy Commander of the 406th Separate Brigade Artillery Group of the Coast Guard Forces Center of the Ukrainian Navy.
According to the project, after the occupation of Crimea, Isaev switched sides to Russia. After that, he was appointed Chief of Staff – Deputy Commander of the 8th Artillery Regiment of the 22nd Army Corps of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
In 2015, he was discharged to the reserve, but in October 2022, Isaev returned to military service and participated in the war against Ukraine.
In September 2024, he was appointed commander of the 8th Artillery Regiment and awarded the rank of colonel.
As a reminder, earlier “Pryamiy” wrote about the former first deputy commander of the Ukrainian Navy, Serhiy Yeliseyev , who was sentenced in absentia to 15 years in prison for high treason. During the occupation of Crimea in 2014, he switched sides to Russia.
