Defense forces hit a refinery in Tatarstan and an oil terminal in the Kuban
On August 19 and the night of August 20, Ukrainian military forces struck two important Russian fuel infrastructure facilities. The TANEKO oil refinery in Tatarstan and the Tamanneftegaz oil terminal in Krasnodar Krai were hit.
This was reported by the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
According to preliminary data, a hit and a fire were recorded on the territory of the TANEKO oil refinery in Nizhny Kamsk. The enterprise is one of the largest oil refining complexes in Russia and can process up to 16 million tons of oil per year. The plant produces various types of fuel and other products, which, according to the Ukrainian side, are used to supply the Russian army.
The Tamanneftegaz oil terminal in the village of Volna, Krasnodar Territory, was also hit. A fire broke out at the facility after the attack.
The Defense Forces note that Tamanneftegaz is one of Russia’s key oil terminals in the Black Sea region. It can handle almost 20 million tons of oil, oil products, and liquefied gas annually. The facility is used to transport fuel and meet the logistical needs of the Russian army.
The extent of damage to both facilities is currently being determined. The Defense Forces emphasized that work on important military and economic targets of the enemy is ongoing.
