Defense forces repelled 180 Russian army assaults in 24 hours: where is the most difficult situation?

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine published operational information as of 8 a.m. on January 16, 2026 regarding the Russian invasion.
In total , 180 combat clashes were recorded over the past 24 hours. Aviation, missile troops, and artillery of the Defense Forces struck seven areas of concentration of enemy personnel and equipment, two UAV control points, and another important object of the Russian invaders.
Yesterday, the enemy launched two missile and 97 air strikes on the positions of Ukrainian units and settlements, used 3 missiles and dropped 234 guided bombs. In addition, 6,968 kamikaze drones were used to strike and 3,338 attacks were carried out on the positions of our troops and settlements, of which 57 were from multiple launch rocket systems.
The aggressor carried out airstrikes, in particular, on the areas of the settlements of Manukhivka, Bilopillya in Sumy region; Havrylivka in Dnipropetrovsk region; Rizdvyanka, Verkhnia Tersa, Lyubitske, Samiylivka, Vozdvizhivka, Zaliznychne, Hulyaipole, Orekhov, Tavriyske, Preobrazhenka in Zaporizhia region.
In the North-Slobozhansk and Kursk directions over the past day, one combat clash occurred, the enemy carried out one air strike, dropping two aerial bombs, and carried out 111 attacks, including three from multiple launch rocket systems.
In the South-Slobozhansk direction, our troops stopped 11 enemy attacks in the areas of the settlements of Vovchansk, Prylipka, Tykhye, Starytsia, Vovchanski Khutory and towards the settlements of Izbitske, Krugle, and Nesterne.
Yesterday, six attacks by the invaders took place in the Kupyansk direction. Our defenders repelled the enemy’s assault actions in the direction of Peshchanye, Kurylivka, Petropavlivka, and Boguslavka.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy attacked 19 times, trying to penetrate our defenses in the areas of the settlements of Zarichne, Novoselivka, Torske and towards the settlements of Lyman, Stavky, Druzhelyubivka, Oleksandrivka, Dibrova, Drobysheve.
In the Slavyansk direction, the Defense Forces repelled five enemy attacks in the areas of Siversk, Platonovka, and towards Zakitne.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled four attacks in the areas of Vasyukivka, Fedorivka and towards Pryvillya and Minkivka.
In the Kostyantynivka direction, the enemy carried out 21 attacks in the areas of the settlements of Kostyantynivka, Ivanopillya, Rusyn Yar, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Shcherbynivka, Pleshchiivka and towards Novopavlivka, Stepanivka, and Sofiivka.
In the Pokrovsk direction, our defenders stopped 46 assault actions of the aggressor in the areas of the settlements of Nykanorivka, Myrnograd, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novosergiivka, Molodetske, Filiya and in the direction of Vilny, Rodynsky, Novyy Shakhovy, and Sukhetsky.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, the enemy carried out ten attacks yesterday, near Vyshneve and towards the settlements of Ivanivka, Oleksandrovgrad, Yehorivka, Rybne, Zlagoda, Andriivka-Klevtsove, Novye Zaporizhzhia, and Sichneve.
In the Hulyaipil direction, the Defense Forces repelled 30 Russian attacks in the areas of Solodke, Hulyaipil and towards Dobropil, Olenokostyantynivka, Zeleny, and Varvarivka.
Five combat clashes took place in the Orikhiv direction, in the areas of Primorske, Stepnohirsk, Stepovoye, and Kamyanske.
On the Dnieper direction, the occupiers made one unsuccessful attempt to advance in the area of the Antoniv Bridge.
No signs of the formation of enemy offensive groups were detected in the Volyn and Polissya directions.
It is worth adding that in total, the losses of the Russian invaders over the past day amounted to 1,370 people . Ukrainian soldiers also neutralized six tanks, four armored combat vehicles, 48 artillery systems, three multiple launch rocket systems, 527 operational-tactical unmanned aerial vehicles, 180 units of automotive equipment, two units of special equipment, and one heavy flamethrower system of the invaders.
