Defense of Pokrovsk: what is the situation near the city?

The situation in the Pokrovskaya direction has deteriorated sharply after the resignation of Major General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapaty. Currently, the enemy is using the tactics of small assault groups trying to gain a foothold in urban areas, which threatens to flank the Pokrovskaya agglomeration.

This was reported on the air of “Pryamoy” by Dmytro Snegirev, a military and political analyst, co-chair of the public initiative “Prava sprava”.

“The situation in the Pokrovsky direction has deteriorated sharply after incomprehensible personnel appointments or changes. We are talking about the resignation of Drapaty, and the resignation, in my opinion, took place for far-fetched reasons. Let me remind you that it was at the time when Drapaty headed the Ground Forces that the Ukrainian Defense Forces managed to largely stabilize the situation in the Pokrovsky direction and conduct a number of successful counteroffensive actions. The occupiers themselves called this “Drapatoy’s counteroffensive,” which testified to the high authority of the Ukrainian military commander even among the Russian invaders,” Snegirev noted.

According to him, the enemy is currently using tactics of small assault groups, whose task is to gain a foothold in urban areas and gain positions before other similar groups approach.

“The size of the assault group can range from 8 to 12 people. These are quite seriously trained fighters. We need to understand who we are up against. This practice and tactics of action were initiated by the Wagner PMC during assault operations in the urban area of Bakhmut. And now it is used by the occupiers on all sectors of the front without exception. But here it is worth talking not only about the activities of the DRG directly in Pokrovsk, in particular in the area of Shevchenko and Ukrainian Defenders Streets, but also about the main thing – the threat of flank coverage of the Pokrovsk agglomeration – Pokrovsk, Myrnograd, Dobropillya,” the analyst explains.

He also reported that the main threat is that the occupiers have now expanded their zone of presence towards Myrnograd.

“Between Razine and Rodynske, they are trying to attack, which threatens to take direct control of the locations of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. There is the only asphalt road there, which is used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine for personnel rotation, evacuation of the wounded, transportation of ammunition, etc. Taking control of this location will significantly worsen the situation not only in Pokrovsk itself, but also in Myrnograd. This is the main threat that currently exists in the Pokrovsk direction,” emphasized Dmytro Snehirev, co-chair of the public initiative “Right Cause”.

We remind you that over the past 24 hours, 167 combat clashes took place on the Russian-Ukrainian front. The hottest situation remains in the Pokrovsky direction . There, the Defense Forces of Ukraine stopped 74 assault actions of the aggressor in the areas of the settlements of Poltavka, Novotoretske, Novoekonomichne, Myrolyubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Novoukrainka, Zvirovo, Udachne, Zeleny Kut, Dachne and Oleksiivka.
