Defense of Pokrovska: Putin sets new deadline for capturing the city

The Russian occupation forces are trying to implement “some kind of mission” towards Pokrovsk by the end of August. In the future, they plan to reach the administrative borders of the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia regions, but this does not mean that the Russians have the potential for large offensive operations.

This was reported on the air of “Pryamoye” by Oleksandr Kovalenko, a military-political observer of the “Information Resistance” group.

“The overall situation is quite complicated, since the Russians are really trying to implement some kind of mission regarding Pokrovsk by the end of August. For them, Pokrovsk is the main goal. In addition to everything else, this is the Novopavlivs’kyi direction. The Novopavlivs’kyi direction, unfortunately, may in the future be expanded to the actual left bank of the Vovcha River and the Vorona River. This applies to both the Dnipropetrovsk region itself and the Zaporizhzhia region,” Kovalenko noted.

According to him, the Russians will try to reach these borders, but this does not mean that they have the potential for any major offensive operations.

“The Russians are now mainly using the quantitative component. They have more than 700 thousand personnel in the territory of Ukraine as part of the Russian occupation forces. If we are talking about the Pokrovsky direction, then this is more than 110 thousand personnel. If we are talking about the Novopavlovsk direction, then this is approximately 100 thousand. This is the largest concentration of forces and means that they have… This is a huge amount of human resources that they are throwing at our positions. The main thing is to have time to neutralize them all,” the military-political observer informs.

In addition, he commented on the recent meeting between US President Donald Trump and Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin.

“No impressions at all. I was preparing for this, everything was clear. There can be no impressions from this. Yes, Donald Trump laid out a carpet for Putin. He smiled at him, served him and all that, but for some reason after that he somehow declined. He didn’t have enough energy. Probably because he couldn’t talk normally with a maniac who has taken a large number of human lives. He wanted victory, he needs the Nobel Peace Prize. He won’t get it from Vladimir Putin. He was disappointed not only in Vladimir Putin, but also in himself. We’ll see how the actions will unfold in the future,” Oleksandr Kovalenko noted.

As a reminder, information about an alleged breakthrough of the troops of the aggressor country Russia in the Pokrovsky direction has recently begun to spread online. According to the military, these rumors are not true and “do not reflect real facts.”

The Armed Forces of Ukraine stressed that the situation, although tense, is under control. The 1st Operational Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine “Azov” has been deployed here to support the defense.

Later, the Donetsk OVA assured that the situation near Dobropillya had been stabilized . Thanks to the heroic efforts of our Defense Forces, the front line is securely held.

In addition, information has emerged that the Ukrainian Defense Forces have cleared Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region of enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups that had infiltrated the city in July. At the same time, the occupiers continue to draw up forces in the Pokrovsk direction, in particular, the Russians have already accumulated over 100,000 troops there.
