Defense, weapons, economy and security: it became known what the new government will do

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a strategic meeting with Yulia Svyrydenko and Mykhailo Fedorov, outlining key priorities for the renewed government for the next six months. The main emphasis is on strengthening Ukraine’s defense potential, large-scale deregulation of the economy, and guarantees of social protection for citizens.

The President announced the formation of a specific action program for the renewed Cabinet of Ministers. Among the key tasks:

  • Large-scale expansion of weapons production in Ukraine, in particular national developments;
  • Full contracting of drones of all types for the Defense Forces;
  • Deep economic deregulation, which will allow the country to unleash its internal potential;
  • Guaranteed implementation of social programs, with special emphasis on supporting the most vulnerable categories of the population.

“We already know what results the government should achieve in six months. We are focused on a clear pace, efficiency, and tangible changes for citizens,” Zelensky emphasized.

The meeting also heard from the Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, who reported on:

  • Actions of the National Guard together with the Defense Forces of Ukraine;
  • The situation in frontline and border regions ;
  • Use of drones in the Donetsk direction;
  • Frontline logistics protection and new security initiatives for Ukrainian communities.

Klymenko noted that new measures are being prepared to combat crime, particularly in de-occupied and frontline territories.

By the way, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy officially confirmed that he offered the position of Minister of Defense of Ukraine to current Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

The day before, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko to head the Cabinet of Ministers.

Subsequently, MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported that an official change of government is expected on July 16, in which Yulia Svyridenko will be nominated for the post of Prime Minister instead of Denys Shmyhal . The changes will affect a number of ministries, including the defense, economic and social blocs.
