The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine commented on the incident with a drone that flew into Lithuania on October 18. According to the preliminary version, the drone could have been Ukrainian and deviated from its course due to the action of Russian electronic warfare equipment.
This was announced by Foreign Ministry spokesman Georgy Tykhyi.
According to Tykhy, the drone was headed to strike targets on Russian territory, but could have changed course due to the action of Russian electronic warfare (EW) equipment.
The Ukrainian side is ready to provide the Lithuanian partners with all necessary information to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
“We will continue to work closely to prevent similar incidents in the future,” Tykhy noted.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman stressed that Ukraine regrets what happened and apologizes for any possible inconvenience, risks, and concerns caused by the incident.
Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda also commented on the incident. According to him, such incidents indicate the spread of the consequences of Russia’s war against Ukraine to the eastern flank of NATO and the European Union.
By the way, on the night of October 18, unknown persons in Lithuania tried to set fire to a company where Starlink equipment is stored, and in the morning an unknown drone flew into the country’s airspace . As a result of the drone crash in the Pasvaly district, a car was damaged, but there were no injuries.
