Delivered “goods” to all regions: large-scale drug trafficking group exposed in Ukraine
The National Police has completed an investigation into an interregional drug trafficking group that manufactured psychotropic drugs on an industrial scale and supplied them to all regions of Ukraine. Nine members of the criminal organization will stand trial for creating drug laboratories, selling drugs, and organizing an underground network via Telegram.
This was reported by the press service of the National Police.
According to the investigation, an indictment was filed against members of a large-scale criminal organization that for a long time supplied psychotropic substances to almost the entire territory of Ukraine. It included nine people aged 18 to 48, who acted as a well-coordinated structure – from manufacturing to distributing prohibited substances.
Law enforcement officers from various regions of the country, including Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi, Odessa, Mykolaiv, Chernihiv and Kyiv regions, under the coordination of the Department for Combating Drug Crime and investigators of the Main Investigation Department, conducted a large-scale special operation. In October last year, 46 searches were conducted, as a result of which nine drug laboratories and six warehouses with finished products were liquidated.
The main production facilities were located in the Dnipropetrovsk and Kyiv regions, where they produced alpha-PVP and amphetamine on an industrial scale. The laboratories’ capacities allowed them to produce up to 50 kilograms of psychotropic drugs per month , the equivalent of over 7 million hryvnias at black market prices.
The gang members sold finished products in bulk across the country, using logistics companies and the popular “bookmark” scheme. To coordinate trade, they created a network of Telegram channels where they accepted orders, made payments, and maintained contact with “clients.”
The total amount of narcotics seized during the operation amounted to over 55 million hryvnias. All nine suspects were detained under Articles 208 and 615 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and they were served with a notice of suspicion.
The Prosecutor General’s Office has already referred the case to court. The defendants will be held responsible for creating and participating in a criminal organization (Part 2 of Article 255 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), illegal manufacture and sale of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances (Part 4 of Article 28, Part 3 of Article 307), production of precursors (Part 4 of Article 28, Part 3 of Article 311), and organization of places for illegal use or manufacture of narcotic drugs (Part 4 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 317).
The case will be heard in court soon. If found guilty, each of the accused faces a long prison term.
Recall that in May, the largest criminal organization engaged in the industrial production and sale of drugs was exposed and neutralized in Ukraine . As a result of a multi-stage special operation conducted in 15 regions, law enforcement officers liquidated 19 drug laboratories and 17 warehouses, detained 67 participants in the criminal scheme, and seized psychotropic substances worth over 2 billion hryvnias.
