Denis Prokopenko has taken command of the new Azov troop group in the Donetsk region.

Brigadier General Denis Prokopenko, call sign “Radis,” commander of the 1st Corps of the Azov National Guard, has taken command of the newly created Azov group of forces, which will operate in the Donetsk region.

This was reported by the 1st building of the NGU “Azov”.

On September 13, Prokopenko officially assumed his duties as commander of the new group.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the creation of two new troop groups to strengthen the defense of Donbas in late August. One of them was to be led by Prokopenko, and the other by Andriy Beletsky, commander of the Third Army Corps.

The group under Beletsky’s command was named “Center.” He will be responsible for the defense of a significant portion of the Donetsk region, while Beletsky will continue to command the Third Army Corps.

Thus, two new command formats have been created in the Donetsk region, which should strengthen the command and defense of Ukrainian troops in this area.
