Denmark has announced a new military aid package to Ukraine worth 1.6 billion kroner (about 400 million euros). The funds will be used to purchase weapons from domestic manufacturers and their subsequent transfer to Ukrainian defenders. Part of the funding will also go to other forms of support, the details of which have not yet been disclosed by the Danish Ministry of Defense.
According to the Danish Ministry of Defense, this is the 27th aid package for Ukraine.
“Ukraine’s need for military support remains enormous, and one of the best ways we can help is to increase our contribution to the Ukrainian defense industry. That is why today we are additionally allocating almost 1.6 billion kroner to the so-called ‘Danish model,’” said Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen.
Recall that in 2024, Ukraine and Denmark launched a new form of cooperation, called the “Danish model.” It involves financing the procurement of weapons from domestic companies in order to strengthen the defense sector and transfer equipment directly to the front.
In total, Denmark plans to allocate about 5.9 billion kroner (over 920 million euros) to this model between 2024 and 2027. To date, commitments worth about 18.5 billion kroner (2.9 billion euros) have already been made, a significant part of which has been secured thanks to contributions from allies, in particular from the European Union.
Earlier, Kyiv and Copenhagen agreed on a new program , which provides for Denmark to allocate $375 million for the reconstruction of Ukraine.
We remind you that the European Commission will provide 40 million euros, which will be used for humanitarian assistance for Ukrainians.
