Denmark transferred ammunition for F-16 to Ukraine: what is known about the supply

Denmark has transferred to Ukraine more than 50,000 20 mm ammunition for the onboard guns of F-16 fighter jets. The delivery was made in an accelerated mode, and Ukrainian pilots are already using this ammunition to intercept jet attack drones.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense.
Ukraine thanked Denmark for its prompt response to a request for additional weapons. They emphasized that the speed of delivery directly affects the strengthening of air defense and the protection of people from Russian air attacks.
“Such efficiency is of direct importance for strengthening Ukrainian air defense and protecting people from Russian air attacks,” the Ukrainian side noted.
The F-16 is currently one of the most effective means of countering Shahed-type jet attack drones. To successfully intercept them, it is important for Ukrainian pilots to have a sufficient supply of ammunition.
“Today, the F-16 is one of the most effective means of countering jet fighters, so for their effective destruction it is important to have sufficient stocks of weapons,” the report emphasized.
As a reminder, Belgium plans to complete the procedure for transferring three F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine in the near future . For this, the country needs to obtain official approval from France.
It later became known that Belgium was preparing ten F-16 fighters for Ukraine, and was also considering supplying ammunition to combat Russian drones . The planes are promised to be delivered by the end of 2026, although the schedule depends on the arrival of new F-35s for the Belgian military.
As previously reported, the Netherlands will provide Ukrainian F-16 fighter jets with necessary maintenance, spare parts, and ammunition. The country thus seeks to strengthen Ukrainian air defense capabilities amid massive Russian attacks.
In addition, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine will receive a package of ammunition for F-16 fighter jets from Finland in the coming days . According to him, this equipment helps shoot down jet fighters.
