Denmark will allocate 509 million euros and funds from the sale of F-16s for weapons for Ukraine

Denmark allocates an additional 509 million euros for military assistance to Ukraine in 2026.

Including the new funds, the total amount of support from Copenhagen in 2026 will reach 1.87 billion euros. Previously, Denmark had already foreseen 1.28 billion euros for this period, another 80 million euros will come from the sale of F-16 fighter jets.

Thanks to the adopted decision, Denmark’s defense spending will increase to 3.5% of gross domestic product in 2026.

Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen stressed that supporting Ukraine is a contribution to the security of all of Europe. According to him, Ukraine’s security directly affects the security of Denmark and the European region as a whole.

It was previously reportedthat Sweden and Denmark agreed to jointly purchase and transfer air defense systems to Ukraine for a total of 2.6 billion Swedish kronor (290 million euros).

As a reminder, Germany has almost exhausted its capabilities to support Ukraine’s air defense . This was stated by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius on January 26 in Berlin after a meeting with his Lithuanian counterpart Robertas Kaunas.
