Deputies supported the law on the reburial of fallen soldiers: what does it provide for
On Thursday, October 23, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law on the reburial of fallen servicemen whose bodies were found in the deoccupied territories.
This is stated on the BP website.
The law at the legislative level of the legal mechanism for the reburial of the deceased who defended the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
The reburial process is carried out once, funded from local budgets.
In particular, it is stipulated that:
- The reburial of the deceased may be initiated by the person who performed the burial or by one of the relatives of the deceased;
- in the event of identification of a person whose unidentified remains are buried in burial places established in accordance with the law, the reburial of the deceased is carried out by one of the relatives;
- In the event of identification of a person whose unidentified remains are buried at the National War Memorial Cemetery, the reburial of such remains of the deceased may be carried out by one of the relatives of the deceased, at another cemetery or on the territory of the memorial cemetery in accordance with the procedure established by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
As a reminder, in August , the National Military Memorial Cemetery was officially opened in the Kyiv region . The space will become the main place of honoring Ukrainian defenders who gave their lives for the country’s freedom.
