Deputy battalion commander tortured and shot soldiers
The State Bureau of Investigation has completed a pre-trial investigation into the deputy commander of one of the battalions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who served in the Sumy region. The indictment has already been sent to court, and the officer faces up to 12 years in prison.
This was reported by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation.
According to the investigation, the commander systematically exceeded his authority and used physical and psychological violence against his subordinates. The conflict escalated after the military recorded threats of execution on their phones for refusing to carry out orders and published the recording on social media.
After that, the officer tried to force the soldiers to delete the video and apologize, using intimidation and force. The investigation established the facts of imitation of execution, beating of subordinates and use of firearms, as a result of which one of the soldiers was injured.
In addition, another case of violence was documented – during a service conflict, the accused inflicted bodily harm on another battalion officer.
According to the results of the investigation, the serviceman is charged with torture, violation of the statutory rules of relations between servicemen, and abuse of power (Part 3 of Article 127, Part 2 of Article 406, Part 5 of Article 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The accused is currently in custody. The Sumy Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Defense of the Central Region is responsible for the procedural management.
