US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff presented the Medal of Courage to CIA Deputy Director Giuliani Gallini, whose son died in the war against Ukraine. Witkoff received the medal from Vladimir Putin.

This was reported by CNN, citing a source in the CIA.

It is noted that Witkoff considered it important to present the order to the mother of the deceased, since he himself lost his son. So for him, it is “a traumatic experience that goes beyond geopolitics.”

“This moment was not about who he fought for, but about the memory of our children and the overall message: ‘Let’s end this war,’” the source told CNN.

He added that Julianna Gallina cried with her husband when she received the award from Putin.

It is noted that the Gloss family “adored” their son and now miss him, so they ask for respect for their privacy “during this difficult time.”

“Julian Gallina and her family experienced an incredible personal tragedy in the spring of 2024 when her son Michael Gloss, who had mental health issues, was killed fighting in the conflict in Ukraine. For the CIA, Michael’s death is a personal matter for the Gloss family – not a matter of national security,” the agency spokesman added.

Earlier it became known that the 21-year-old son of the deputy director of the CIA, Michael Gloss, was killed in the war against Ukraine . It is known that he served in the Ryazan Airborne Regiment, which fought in the Donetsk region.
