After United States President Donald Trump announced the successful completion of the operation in Venezuela, which resulted in the capture and removal of leader Nicolas Maduro and his wife, the Internet exploded with memes and jokes. In numerous posts, users ironically commented on these events and their development in the global political context.

This is reported by “Pryamiy” .

As you know, US President Donald Trump wrote on his social network that the United States of America successfully carried out a large-scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who, together with his wife, was captured and taken out of the country.

Earlier, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told Senator Mike Lee that Maduro had been arrested by US forces and that no further military escalation in Venezuela was expected. The purpose of the operation was said to be protection and support for the execution of the arrest warrant.

After these statements, the activity of users on social networks significantly increased, creating memes and humorous posts about the US intervention and the subsequent consequences for the political situation.

In particular, users compare Maduro’s arrest to a once-popular video about a Crimean resident who “didn’t want to leave Crimea.”

Also, users are mocking the “agenda” of the Venezuelan dictator.

The network is actively reminding about the “friendly” ties between the Venezuelan regime and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

At the same time, users ridiculed the Kremlin’s “reaction” to the operation in Venezuela, or rather, its lack thereof.

It is worth adding that the network is also jokingly comparing Maduro to the famous detention of Medvedchuk.

There were also jokes about narco-terrorism, which Maduro is accused of.

We should add that Ukrainians also compared Maduro’s enthusiasm to the plot of the film “The Caucasian Captive”.

Social media also didn’t forget to compare the operation in Venezuela to a famous moment from the movie “The Shining.”

At the same time, the Internet is making fun of Trump, who has repeatedly stated that he is a “peacemaker” who has stopped many military conflicts, but now he himself has started one.

Of course, we couldn’t miss mentioning the Nobel Peace Prize, which Trump once really wanted to receive for his mediation in resolving military conflicts.

Also, social media users are comparing the operation in Venezuela to the Russian Federation’s war against Ukraine, especially emphasizing that Washington achieved its goals in 24 hours, while the Kremlin was unable to “take Kyiv in three days.”

Who is Nicolas Maduro?

Nicolas Maduro was born on November 23, 1962, in Caracas to a working-class family. In his youth, he worked as a bus driver and was active in the trade union movement. According to public records, he did not complete his secondary education.

Maduro began his political career in the late 1990s as a co-founder of the Fifth Republic Movement and one of Hugo Chávez’s associates. In 2000, he was elected to the Venezuelan National Assembly, and later held a number of key government positions.

Maduro served as Venezuela’s foreign minister from 2006 to 2012 and vice president from 2012 to 2013. He became president after Hugo Chavez’s death in March 2013.

During his reign, Venezuela faced a deep economic crisis, shortages of goods, mass protests, and international isolation. The Supreme Tribunal and security forces played a key role in preserving his power after the defeat of pro-government forces in parliamentary elections.

The 2018 and 2024 presidential elections were marred by allegations of fraud and were not recognized by a number of countries. The United States imposed sanctions on Maduro, and in 2020 a US court indicted him on narco-terrorism charges.

In 2025, the US Department of Justice increased the reward for information leading to his arrest to US$50 million.

The day before, it became known that Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro and his wife were charged with conspiracy for the purpose of “narcoterrorism” and for the purpose of “importing cocaine.”

Earlier, US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau said that Nicolas Maduro would face justice “for his crimes.” Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that Nicolas Maduro and his wife had been captured and taken out of Venezuela.

Recall that US President Donald Trump ordered strikes on targets inside Venezuela on Saturday, January 3. The Venezuelan government subsequently declared a state of emergency in the country due to the American attack .
