Died a few hours before transfer: a scandal erupted in Kyiv over the death of a soldier in the hospital

Ukrainian serviceman Serhiy Kuznetsov, who was undergoing treatment after being wounded, died in Kyiv.

This is stated in a post by serviceman Serhiy Gnezdilov.

He stated that the tragedy could have been caused by medical negligence and called for a full investigation into the circumstances of the soldier’s death.

According to Gnezdilov, the soldier received shrapnel wounds to his legs, abdomen, and back and was hospitalized at the capital’s emergency hospital. After hospitalization, his condition was assessed as stable, and some of his wounds were gradually healing.

However, the soldier’s relatives claim that during treatment, doctors did not pay due attention to the back injury, although the soldier himself and his mother repeatedly drew attention to it.

“The military man’s mother repeatedly asked doctors to pay attention to the fact that her son’s temperature was rising and his well-being was deteriorating. In response, she heard: ‘What did you want, this is an injury?’” Gnezdilov wrote.

According to him, Serhiy had been complaining of pain and deteriorating health for almost twenty days. The family also bought the necessary medications on their own.

“Both the soldier himself and his mother constantly asked the doctors to start treating his back,” the soldier’s brother noted.

Gnezdilov said that the brigade’s escort service had already begun the procedure of transferring the wounded man to a military hospital, but they did not have time to complete it.

“He did not live to be transferred for several hours,” the serviceman said.

According to his mother, on the eve of his death, Serhiy underwent a checkup, during which doctors did not detect any critical heart problems. However, the next morning his heart stopped.

After the tragedy, Serhiy Gnezdilov called on law enforcement officers and relevant agencies to conduct a comprehensive and objective investigation.

“I call for a comprehensive and objective investigation into the circumstances of Serhiy’s death and the prosecution of all those responsible,” he stressed.

There are currently no official results of the investigation or conclusions regarding the cause of the soldier’s death.
