Diplomatic license plates have been changed in Ukraine: what does this mean?

Minister of Foreign Affairs Andriy Sybiga announced that on April 8, new diplomatic license plates appeared in Ukraine.
He wrote about this on his Facebook page.
The head of the foreign ministry stressed that this step indicates a change in reality. He recalled that previously the first diplomatic number belonged to Russia. Instead, today the first number was given to diplomats of Ukraine’s key partner, the minister did not specify who it was.
“This decision was long overdue. Therefore, we have comprehensively updated the approach to diplomatic license plates — not only the appearance, but also brought this area into line with modern security and diplomatic realities,” Sibiga assured.
From now on, diplomatic signs in Ukraine will be olive green. The minister explained that this is the color of diplomacy, a symbol of peace and mutual understanding.
“Today, for Ukraine, it is also the color of stability — the color of the uniform of our defenders. And after victory, it will be the color of peace,” he added.
According to him, the decision on new license plates has security and image significance. In addition, it is a step towards the implementation of new standards for diplomatic missions and international organizations.
“We are responding to cases of improper use of diplomatic license plates and are bringing the system into line with the norms of the Vienna Conventions on Diplomatic and Consular Relations,” the Foreign Minister noted.
