Ukrainian Myron Netrebko from Dnipro won gold at the World Classical Chess Championship for boys under 9. The competition took place in the Spanish municipality of Roquetas de Mar.

The Ukrainian Chess Federation reported this.

Netrebka scored 9.5 points out of a possible 11: nine wins, one draw, and one loss. The Ukrainian finished half a point ahead of silver medalist Saifuddin Erkinbaev of Uzbekistan.

A total of 82 chess players competed in six age categories—from U7 to U17. Myron’s gold was the only medal for the Ukrainian team at the tournament.

In 2025, Netrebko also competed successfully in Greece, where he won two gold medals in rapid and blitz and a silver medal.
