Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapatiy responded to the resignation of Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, emphasizing that the changes initiated in the military must continue regardless of personnel decisions.
He wrote about this on Facebook.
According to Drapatogo, the army needs change, but it must be based on fairness. He noted that the Ministry of Defense team is focused not on formal reforms, but on addressing the systemic problems that service members face every day.
The commander thanked the Ministry of Defense team for their willingness to change approaches and noted that over the past six months, interaction between the troops and the ministry has become significantly more effective.
Drapatiy singled out the “Drone Line” project, calling it an example of how timely government decisions can impact the situation on the battlefield. He also echoed Fedorov’s assertion that many important decisions had to be made in defiance of the existing system.
Furthermore, Drapatiy emphasized that commanders should not remain silent about problems, as this only exacerbates them. He stated that the transformation of the Defense Forces must continue until fair and clear rules become the norm for every service member, regardless of changes in the leadership of the Ministry of Defense.
As a reminder, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Serhiy Koretsky as Prime Minister of Ukraine: 289 deputies voted in favor.
As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy decided to dismiss Mykhailo Fedorov from his post as Minister of Defense due to a long-running conflict with the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyy.
As reported, Andrius Kubilius, the European Commissioner for Defence and Space, called Mykhailo Fedorov’s resignation as Ukraine’s Minister of Defence “a big surprise.”
Incidentally, the European Solidarity faction called on Prime Minister candidate Sergei Koretsky to reinstate Mykhailo Fedorov in the new government and entrust him with security and defense matters.
Furthermore, Deputy Commander of the Ukrainian Air Force Pavlo Yelizarov submitted his resignation. He cited the possible resignation of Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov as the reason for his decision and warned of the risk of a rollback in air defense reforms .
