After Mykhailo Drapaty took over as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the approach to assault units changed. Their replenishment was temporarily reduced, some of the military were transferred to other units, and the regiments themselves were transferred to operational subordination to different corps.
This is reported by “Ukrainska Pravda” with reference to interlocutors in the Defense Forces.
According to the publication, after the departure of Oleksandr Syrsky, the assault units found themselves in new conditions. In particular, their priority replenishment with personnel was temporarily suspended, some of the military began to be transferred to other units, and the regiments themselves were transferred to operational subordination to the corps.
In addition, the potential commander of the Joint Assault Forces, Dmitry Voloshin, was returned to the front.
The commanders of the 1st and 475th assault battalions, according to the UP, appealed to Drapaty to allow them to work in a more autonomous format, but were refused.
There is currently no final decision on the fate of the assault regiments and the possible creation of a Joint Rapid Reaction Force command. In the meantime, these units remain part of the corps.
At the same time, commanders of non-assault units told reporters that after the change of commander-in-chief, the distribution of personnel became more even.
“Previously, they gave 10+ thousand people per month to all brigades and the same number to all attack aircraft. But now that has finally changed,” said one of the commanders.
