Drapaty has a new deputy for digitalization: what is known about the personnel changes

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mykhailo Drapaty, has dismissed his deputy, Brigadier General Andriy Lebedenko, who was responsible for the development of technologies in the army. The new deputy commander-in-chief for digitalization has become Artem Martynenko, one of the architects of the Delta system.

This is reported by hromadske, citing three sources in the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

Lebedenko held the position of Deputy Commander-in-Chief during the time of Oleksandr Syrsky. According to the publication, he also oversaw the Central Department of Innovation Activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which has now been disbanded.

A source in the General Staff said that the decision to dismiss Lebedenko was made after an audit of his work. The source for Hromadske claims that the new commander-in-chief’s team was dissatisfied with the general’s work.

Instead of Lebedenko, Artem Martynenko will be responsible for the direction of digitalization. He is one of the architects of “Delta”, a key digital system used by the Ukrainian military.

Back on July 22, Lebedenko, together with other officers of the Central Department of Innovation Activities, reported on the results of work for the first half of 2026. During this time, the department evaluated almost 600 weapons and military equipment projects. More than 40 of them received state financial support.

Lebedenko also spoke about work on new unmanned systems. In particular, he spoke about fiber-optic drones with a range of over 50 km, autonomous and swarm UAVs, as well as systems with artificial intelligence.

In addition, the general stated that within two to three months, laser and pulse weapons could appear in Ukraine to combat Russian air attack vehicles.
