Drapaty’s new deputy: what is known about General Sobko

Brigadier General Serhiy Sobko has been appointed acting Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Final confirmation of the position is expected in the near future.

This was reported by journalist Vasyl Pehnyo, citing his own sources.

According to the journalist, the information about the appointment was confirmed by several interlocutors at once. The final approval procedure is currently underway.

Pehnyo noted that Sobko belongs to a new generation of Ukrainian generals. He studied at the U.S. Army Command and Staff College at Fort Leavenworth and is one of the few Ukrainian officers with such training.

At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Sobko served as Chief of Staff of the Territorial Defense Forces and coordinated the deployment of Territorial Defense units. He also helped create the “Captains’ Training” program to train platoon, company, and battalion commanders.
