All first-round matches in Groups G and H at the 2026 World Cup have been played. Only draws have been recorded.
The biggest shocker was the goalless draw between Spain and Cape Verde in Group H. In the same group, Saudi Arabia lost its lead over Uruguay, drawing 1-1. Uruguay was also considered the favorite in this match.
The Group H standings after the first round look like this:
In Group G , a real “shootout” occurred between Iran and New Zealand, with the score tied 2-2 (theoretically, this result could favor the New Zealanders). Furthermore, Belgium failed to live up to its status as the favorite in the match against Egypt: the score in that pairing also ended 1-1.
The Group G standings after the first round look like this:
Today, June 16, France will face Senegal in Group I. Kickoff is at 10:00 PM Kyiv time.
