The Security Service of Ukraine announced the destruction of the Lukoil-Permnaftoorgsintez oil refinery and the Perm linear production and dispatching station in Russia. Both facilities are located more than 1,500 km from the Ukrainian border.
This was reported by the press service of the SBU.
The department noted that the attack was carried out by specialists from the Alfa Special Operations Center. According to the special service, the Lukoil-Permnaftoorgsintez refinery is one of the largest oil refineries in Russia, which supplies fuel to the civilian sector and the Russian army.
The Perm linear production and dispatching station belongs to Transneft JSC and is a strategic node of the Russian oil transportation system. The station distributes oil in 4 directions, including to the Perm Refinery.
The SBU reported that as a result of a drone strike on the territory of the refinery, a fire broke out at one of the AVT units, which is used for primary oil processing. According to the special service, one of the tanks at the oil pumping station was hit.
“The SBU continues to systematically attack the Russian oil infrastructure, which is one of the main sources of funding the Russian budget and financing the war against Ukraine,” the agency said.
The special service also noted that the destruction of such facilities reduces Russia’s ability to process and transport oil, and also makes it more difficult to provide the occupation forces with fuel.
It was previously reported that on the morning and night of May 8, drones attacked several regions of Russia and occupied Crimea at once . Chechnya, the Perm Territory, as well as energy and military infrastructure facilities in Crimea were hit, where fires were recorded at a substation, a chemical plant, and near military units.
As a reminder, on the night of May 8, several Russian regions came under attack by drones. Explosions were heard in Moscow, Yaroslavl, and Rostov-on-Don, and fires broke out at industrial facilities.
