Drone crashes in Moldova, leaving crater and scattering debris for tens of meters
In Moldova, wreckage of a drone that crashed in an agricultural field has been found in the Stefan-Vodskyi district. Preliminary analysis has shown that the device may have had a turbojet engine, but its exact type has not yet been established.
This was reported by the Moldovan police.
The crash site was found on the outskirts of the village of Talmaza. The drone exploded in a field, leaving a crater about two meters in diameter and about 50 centimeters deep. The shock wave damaged an area of about 45 by 20 meters.
Police specialists conducted a visual inspection of the scene and collected the aircraft wreckage. Among them, they found components of the flight control system, elements of the power plant, and numerous fragments of the fuselage.
The turbojet engine attracted particular attention. Damaged electronic modules, which probably belong to the drone’s control system, were also found at the site.
“Preliminary analysis indicates that the components found at the scene are similar to those used in rocket-type unmanned aerial vehicles equipped with a turbojet power plant,” Moldovan police said.
At the same time, law enforcement officials emphasize that they cannot yet definitively establish the type of drone. There is not enough data on its technical and tactical characteristics to do this, and there are no specific identification marks on the wreckage.
Experts plan to conduct additional examinations. They must establish the type of device, its characteristics, and the circumstances of the fall.
As a reminder, on Saturday, August 9, a powerful explosion occurred near the settlement of Krokmaz in the Stefan-Vodka district of Moldova, after which vegetation caught fire. At the scene, police found fragments of a combat drone, no one was injured as a result of the explosion and fire.
