Drone explodes near Zapadnaya NPP: one person killed, 15 injured

A drone likely exploded near the Zaporizhzhia NPP on the morning of August 18. It happened near a bus stop used by plant workers. One person was killed and 15 others were injured.

This was reported by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Among the injured are Zaporizhzhia NPP employees and contractors. Three people are in serious condition.

The explosion also affected the industrial area of the station, but no serious damage to the equipment was recorded there.

The occupation leadership of the ZNPP called what happened “the worst incident” the plant had to face.

After the explosion, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi called for an end to attacks on nuclear facilities and the people who work there.

“I call on the military commanders responsible for these actions, as well as all others who target nuclear power plants and/or their personnel, to immediately cease these unacceptable actions, which are completely contrary to all principles and pose great risks to nuclear and physical security in times of conflict,” Grossi said.

Recall that in Egypt, defects and violations of the “nuclear safety culture” were discovered during the construction of the El Dabaa nuclear power plant , which is being built by the Russian state company Rosatom.
